If you’ll be in New York City this month, don’t miss the 30 life-size, fiberglass dogs on display…all painted by celebrities. Richard Gere, Katie Lee Joel, Martha Stewart, Rachael Ray, Robert Kennedy, Jr., Robin Quivers, Clive Davis, Vanessa Williams and others all painted the animals, part of Celebrity Dogs Unleashed, a fundraiser for Green Chimneys, a non-profit organization that operates a special education school, a residential treatment center for children and a farm and wildlife rehabilitation center in Brewster, New York.
Other dogs were painted by pop group Menudo, Chevy Chase, Glenn Close, Stanley Tucci, Joe Piscopo, Jay O. Sanders, Dan Aykroyd and Donna Dixon, primatologist Jane Goodall, Cyndi Lauper, CNN’s Soledad O’Brien, MSNBC’s Maria Bartiromo, Jane Powell, late night show band leader Paul Shaffer, “Judge Judy”, pet socialite and TV personality Wendy Diamond, Annemarie Lucas of “Animal Precinct,” NBA’s Bill Walton and others.
Having already had a sneak preview at Jumeirah Essex House and a blessing of the animals at Cathedral of St. John the Divine, the 30 animals march in the Columbus Day Parade on the Green Chimneys float on October 13. Through October 31, they’ll be on display at the Time Warner Center in Columbus Circle.
The celebrity art dogs will be auctioned at www.CharityFolks.com with proceeds benefiting the children and animals at Green Chimneys. The auction continues through November 1.
