Animal Planet’s Dancing with Dogs Premiers Dec. 6

You might not get a chance to be Dancing with the Stars but do you ever dance with your dog? If you do, you’re not alone. Six-legged dance couples will be featured in Animal Planet’s new Dancing with Dogs on December 6 showcasing dog-owner teams ranging from beginner to advance dancing to rock ‘n’roll, hip-hop, classical and country. The show is hosted by actor and comedian Alec Mapa.

The show follows an international group of 28 teams of dancers and dog breeds that range from poodles to Newfoundlands — all trying to win the World Canine Freestyle Organization’s International Competition and the coveted Animal Planet Cup.

Host Alec Mapa, dog dad to Ozzy and Sweet Pea, says “I’ve been dancing with my dogs for years,” says Alec. “At last, it’s so exciting to know that I’m not alone. There are others out there dancing with dogs, and it’s time to go public!”

The Show: The two-hour Dancing with Dogs premiers Saturday, December 6, at 9 PM (ET/PT) on Animal Planet.
