Best Friends Urges Shelter Adoptions This Holiday

The holidays are definitely the top time of year to obtain a puppy (although there are many good reasons to wait on getting a puppy until the flurry of the holidays is over). If you are going to get a new dog over the holidays, though, check out the shelters!
Here’s a short video from the Utah-based Best Friends, the US’s largest sanctuary for homeless animals which has received international attention thanks to their excellent work rehabilitating many of Michael Vick’s dogs.
This video, part of their “Puppies Aren’t Products” campaign, urges shoppers to consider shelter adoptions rather than pet store purchases! Many shoppers don’t realize that as many as 25 percent of the dogs in shelters, like Baldwin the shelter chihuahua (photo, right), are purebreds.
