In today’s tight economy, we’re all looking for ways to trim costs…and sometimes that means trimming your dog’s hair at home instead of sending him to the dog groomer. We’ve found a book by a dog groomer that takes readers through a step-by-step look at the techniques of dog grooming that you can do at home.
Dog groomer Amy West has authored “Grooming Your Dog At Home – The Ultimate Guide,” a 117-page ebook ($19.95). We were especially glad to see that this book is aimed, not only at purebred owners, but also at the families of mixed breed dogs. The guide tells you the grooming needs based on breed but also, for the mixed breeds, by type of hair, length of hair, color, and coat texture. It also includes info for families of hairless dogs, wrinkled skin dogs, and long-haired dogs, a challenge we’ve had in the past which made it tough to just jump in with clippers and get the look we were after.
This book also covers topics such as:
- Calming a puppy during grooming
- Bathing to remove that “doggy smell”
- How to remove tear stains from under your dog’s eyes
- What type of hair clippers to use
- How often to clip your dog’s hair
This book also comes with two bonus ebooks: “The Ultimate Grooming Tools: What You Need to Keep Your Dog Looking His Best” and “Care of White & Light-Coated Dogs.
