New Yorker Hotel Hosts Many Westminster Dogs

Have you ever wondered where many of the dogs and their handlers stay during the Westminster Dog Show? The New Yorker Hotel is the annual host to over 200 dogs during the Westminster Dog Show every February.

“Each year our hotel accommodates hundreds of dogs involved in the show, in addition to acting as a venue for the ‘Yorkshire Terrier Show’ taking place before the main event,” explains said Thomas McCaffrey, director of sales and marketing for the New Yorker Hotel. “We’re privileged to be involved a time honored event as well as providing a pet-friendly atmosphere year round,” he added.

Restrictions: Guests can stay in a room with up to two dogs (or domestic cats). There’s a weight limit of 45 pounds; dogs must be well domesticated, vaccinated , flea and tick free.

Additional Charges: There is a $100 a day cleaning charge per pet and a $150 deposit against potential damage to the room.

About the Hotel: Located at 34th Street and Eighth Avenue in Manhattan, across from Madison Square Garden, The New Yorker Hotel is one of the largest art deco buildings in New York City. The New Yorker Hotel has completed a massive $70 million renovation to recapture the grandeur and feel of when the property opened in 1930. The New Yorker Hotel features 912 guest rooms (several with terraces), the 24-hour Tick Tock Diner and Cooper’s Tavern, a complimentary Fitness Center, and a fully-equipped Business Center.
