HGTV Launches "Leader of the Pack"

On Sunday, April 26, 2009, HGTV will introduce its first pet-related show: “Leader of the Pack.” The 10-episode series follows the Reckseit family in their quest for the perfect dog. Every family member wants a dog…but which dog is right for them?
Through the series, eight dogs will be introduced to the Reckseits, each undergoing a series of challenges to see just how compatible the dog and the family will be. Seven of the dogs will go to other families, but which dog will become a member of the Reckseit pack?
Time: Premier on April 26, 2009, 8pm ET

Does anyone know the name of the production company for this show?
I do not care how they sugar coat this show. I do not care that seven dogs will be adopted by other families. The point is for the time these dogs are with these people they think they are at “their” home. They receive love and attention, they get to play and enter act with a family. Then to take them and ship them somewhere else is just too much. AND HGTV is doing this for nothing more than ratings. I find this show DISGUSTING! This is nothing more than a sick game!
Being a real estate agent I have always watched HGTV. NEVER AGAIN! I have even removed the channel number from my remote so I do not even flip past it. The person or persons that thought of this show do not deserve the job they have not to mention the salary. I have asked all of my friends to stop watching as well. Never again will I recommend a client to view any HGTV show.
A channel that up to this moment had not been sucked in to hype television has now sunk below even the worst of them.
I think this show is cruel not only to the dogs but to the children also. We raised 3 kids and they each had a pet. they each chose there own pet.We had two dogs and a cat. I would not put my kids through what those kids were put through.
It is a sick show. The mother is a whiner, the father's an idiot and all the two of them do is pit the 3 kids against each other … with the dogs as the losers. Well, maybe the dogs who get 'voted off' are the winners. The family doesn't have a clue about dog care and real training. I feel sorry for the poor dog that's the 'winner'
I saw this show just flipping through channels and was appalled! I am glad I'm not the only one who thinks this is a disgusting show. It is one thing to vote people off of a show. Those people agreed to it and understand what is going on, but to do that to a dog? The dog doesn't understand why it's being loved one minute then shipped back to the shelter the next. To treat them like objects for a game show is just wrong! These people don't deserve a dog and I agree with the other poster that the dogs being voted off are the real winners. Hopefully they are being adopted by people who understand that dogs are not objects.
Have any of you walked into an animal shelter looking for a dog to adopt? Probably not, because the guilt would be too much for most of you decrying this show. Did you know there are people out there that are willing to foster animals until they find permanent homes for them (rather then let the animal be euthanized). This family (the whole family) decided to do this show so give them a little credit for emotional maturity (even the kids).
