Many of us worry about our dogs when we go off to work each day–but what if going off to work meant heading to war zones in Iraq or Afghanistan? While many soldiers can place pets with loved ones and friends, others can’t.
Guardian Angels for Soldier’s Pet (GASP) steps in to assist in placing their beloved pets into loving and safe homes across the US. The organization’s goal is to ensure that military service members are reunited with their pets upon returning home to the United States.
“Though the majority of those deploying will have family members or friends to care for these beloved pets GASP will be there to assist those who don’t,” said Sally White, National President. “We believe having their pet there when they return from oversees is an important part of reintegration and healing.”
How to Help
Soldiers’ pets are placed in foster homes while the soldiers are overseas. For more information on providing a foster home, becoming a volunteer, or making a donation to Guardian Angels for Soldier’s Pet, visit www.guardianangelsforsoldierspet.org
