Anybody can get out the shovels for a traditional groundbreaking event, but Purina did it right: they called in the terriers. This week, a team of Parson Russell Terriers broke ground on a new $10 million, world-class indoor dog show facility at Purina Farms in Gray Summit, Missouri.

The St. Louis-area center will provide 84,000 square feet for conformation dog shows, obedience and agility trials. (Purina Farms already has venues for outdoor dog shows, lure coursing, agility, obedience, herding and earthdog trials.)

The new center is planned for completion in 2010.

Location: Purina Farms is located about one hour from downtown St. Louis and the Lambert-St. Louis International Airport.
