It’s time for Facebook Friday! Every week we highlight some of the Facebook fan pages we’ve selected as favorites on our DogTipper Facebook fan page. This week we’ve got a wide variety, from non-profits to a talented artist–plus a Facebook application that can help you and your Facebook friends give to dogs without spending any money!
This is the official fan page for TheAnimalRescueSite.com, the site where you can visit daily, click a button, and instantly donate food and care to rescue animals–all without any cost to you! The fan page has special Facebook contests and coupons and lots of cute reader photos.
The Cesar and Ilusion Millan Foundation
National Geographic channel’s Dog Whisperer and his wife, Ilusion, are the force behind this non-profit group aids and supports the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of abused and abandoned dogs. This fan page includes contests, news and announcements, and other material of interest to those who want to help the many shelter and rescue dogs.
We can’t say enough good things about Petfinder.com (the site has lead us to multiple shelters where we’ve found more than one new member of our family!) This fan page is always adding info on everything from hiring a pet sitter to keeping your dog busy.
Custom dog artist Rachael Rossman was profiled recently in DogTipper.com but you can keep up with her projects in progress with this official fan page. Be sure to check out all the celebrity dogs Rachael has painted–from Martha Stewart’s Frenchies to Cesar Millan’s Daddy to the Obama family’s Bo!
Save-A-Dog Facebook Application
Here’s a fun way to help dogs with your Facebook activity. For every 2,500 points the app users score, DogTime Media donates the financial equivalent of a cup of food to an animal rescue group in need. The more points you earn, the more dogs you help save; you can earn points in many ways. Every day you login, you’ll earn 25 points; refer a friend and get them to foster a dog and you’ll earn 100 points. You’ll be able to choose from photos of real dogs and select one to foster with your account!
Another way to help dogs through Facebook: don’t forget that I’m Tired Of… is donating to Best Friends Animal Society for each new Facebook fan through September 9, 2009. Check out last week’s Facebook Friday for details.
