Every Friday we take a look at some of the favorite Facebook fan pages of our Dogtipper fan page. This week we’ve got a wide assortment–from a rescue in the Turks and Caicos to a Facebook group that’s working to ease the “Black Dog Syndrome” that’s seen at so many shelters.
With over 10,000 fans, this is a bustling fan page! Look for links to lots of dog news, excellent videos, and plenty of reader interaction on this always-busy page.
What’s a potcake puppy? The nickname in the Turks and Caicos (and Bahamas) for a dog (generally a stray) that’s fed the caked-on remains at the bottom of the pan. Although this Facebook fan page isn’t too busy, you’ll find photos of adopted potcakes from their new families and links to find out how you can adopt one, too!
This new project, a joint effort of the Ad Council, the Humane Society of the US, and Maddie’s Fund, is working to help more shelter pets get adopted. The Facebook page includes daily “Pet Personals” with adoptable furries both canine and feline.
Start Seeing Black Dogs (Facebook group)
Black dogs are some of the hardest for shelters to place…and so often it’s just because potential pet parents don’t SEE the dogs! From the difficulty seeing dogs in kennels to the problem of them just being overlooked, “Black Dog Syndrome” is a real challenge for shelters. Check out this group and the link to its website for tips on making black dogs stand out in the pack!
