Did you know that only nine shelters in the US provide a safe haven for abused women and children AND their pets on-property? We learned today that The Shade Tree in Las Vegas is one of these few shelters that works to provide a safe refuge for all members of families uprooted by domestic violence so that four-legged friends do not have to be left to an uncertain fate–and so that women don’t remain in a dangerous situation rather than leave their pets.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and it also marks the launch of a new “Tell 2 Friends” campaign by Something Gaming Partners, LLC, a Las Vegas-based partnership marketing firm. The campaign is live on the social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, YouTube) and will run through December 31, 2009, providing information about the Las Vegas-based domestic violence shelter, The Shade Tree and Noah’s Animal House (www.TheShadeTree.org). Supporting the campaign are the following iPhone Application Developers with their iPhone Games:
- Resolute Games: ThumStruck
- Intersog: myPoker
- Brandon Middleton, in contest partnership with Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino: www.TicTacToeTen-promotion.appspot.com
“By leveraging the incredible strength of the peer-to-peer connected social media network, and the massive iPhone gaming platform, we will be able to spread the domestic violence message effectively and globally,” said Jake Kahle, Principal, Something Gaming Partners, LLC.
Another objective of the 3-month viral campaign is to increase Las Vegas tourism by encouraging Las Vegas local residents to “tell 2 friends” (non-local) about their hometown. In turn, their friends will tell 2 friends what they love about Las Vegas, and so on. Las Vegas residents will also be invited to send their favorite Las Vegas area locations to the campaign blog site. The selected locations will be credited, photographed and filmed via the new iPhone 3GS, and uploaded to the social media platforms.
“As Las Vegas ‘locals,’ it’s incredibly exciting to share what we love about our like-no-other-town with the social media world,” said Kahle. “However, if this campaign encourages just one woman to tell just one friend that she needs help out of an abusive relationship, than the social media arena is truly life-changing.”
