DogTown Episode Features Vick Dog

The National Geographic Channel’s “DogTown” series has shown the incredible work Best Friends has done with 22 of the pit bulls seized from Michael Vick’s property. These most severe cases have made steady progress–but one dog in particular has presented a challenge to DogTown manager John Garcia.

Handsome Dan arrived at DogTown suffering from a crippling fear of people; he had been known to face his kennel wall for hours on end. The January 8, 2010 episode shows how, under the expert care of Garcia, Handsome Dan has transformed from an emotionally traumatized pit bull into one who is ready for adoption.

The January 8 episode also features Dr. Patti Iampietro who races to find a cure for Charlene, an elderly spaniel mix with a mysterious life-threatening illness, and Billy, a behaviorally challenged rottweiler mix who has a habit of lashing out when strangers try to touch him.
