It’s time for a new Facebook Friday, the weekly feature where we look at some of the latest discoveries of the DogTipper Facebook fan page. This week we look at two California-related fan pages and two pages that benefit shelter dogs.
This is the fan page for the annual Loews Surf Dog Competition (now in its fifth year). It is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 22, 2010 in Imperial Beach, California. Look for videos, photos, and details on the event on this fun page.
This movie about everyone’s favorite cartoon strip Great Dane, stars the voices of Owen Wilson and George Lopez. The live action movie arrives in theaters on June 4, 2010 after premiering at the Loews Surf Dog Competition (above) on May 22 (several scenes were filmed at last year’s event). The fan page includes a link to the “Make Your Dog a Star” application on the movie site which permits you to insert a photo of your dog into the movie trailer. (See our Tiki starring in the version of the trailer we made!)
The Pet Postcard Project (www.petpostcardproject.com) works to encourage people to send in homemade postcards of their pets to earn food for shelter dogs. So far, this project has earned 90,000 pounds of pet food and $18,000 to help shelter animals. The project has monthly prizes with great pet gifts for the winning postcards!
We first learned of Save This Pup at BlogPaws in Ohio last month. This effort works to help people sponsor a shelter dog for a small monthly fee and permits donors to stay in touch with their pup online. Save This Pup is also working on a campaign to catch the attention of the Ellen show; watch the video below shot during BlogPaws (we’re directly in front of the camera…John’s in sunglasses and half of Paris’ head pops in on the left side of the screen for just a second.)
