Petfinder.com’s World’s Best Pet Parent Contest has entered its finalist voting period and we’ve had the chance to meet TWO of this year’s finalists! This contest is a biggie: the grand prize winner will win $10,000 to winner’s choice of animal shelters, the runner-up will win $5,000 and 10 honorable mentions will each win $1000 for their chosen shelters! (Plus there will be a random drawing for 6-month supply of Advantage® or K9 Advantix® for 50 winners.)
You can vote as often as you like and for as many finalists as you like!
Carol and Dexter
At BlogPaws this spring, we had the chance to meet Carol from FIDO Friendly magazine and her soft, soft dog, Dexter, an American Cocker Spaniel! Dexter has even been Dog of the Day here at DogTipper. Now Carol is a finalist in the World’s Best Pet Parent Contest!
Carol has designated Oldies But Goodies (Northern VA) Cocker Rescue, in Newington, Virginia. This rescue saves over 300 dogs a year; although originally formed to protect older cockers, today this rescue finds new homes for dogs of all ages. Sean and Rainbow
Last weekend, we paid a visit to the Pet Expo held in San Antonio where a large number of dog rescue groups were represented. Among those was the Kerrville-based Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas, which is “dedicated to the health, welfare and happiness of our dachshund friends.” Over the years, DDRTX has successfully rescued, rehabilitated, and adopted out many dachshunds to loving homes.
One of the group’s initiatives is public awareness of the threat to animal welfare represented by puppy mills. The “spokesdog” for the campaign is Rainbow, a long-haired dachschund suffering from numerous health issues when rescued from a puppy mill. Now healthy and happy, Rainbow and Sean, who adopted her, became a finalist in the “Best Pet Parent” photo contest. To vote for Rainbow, go here.
Good luck to all the finalists!
