As you know, DogTipper just returned from a great pet bloggers’ conference, BlogPaws West, held in Denver. We learned about a great program that PEDIGREE is having through Sunday, September 19, 2010, to help shelter dogs. For each blog post about Pedigree’s adoption drive from now until Sunday, Pedigree is going to donate a 20-pound bag of their new Healthy Longevity Food for Dogs to a shelter! (Here’s a good post over on Boulder Dog with all the blogging details!)

This is just one of many efforts PEDIGREE makes all year long to draw attention to all the great dogs that are available in shelters, just waiting for a home. Considering adding a dog to your house? We urge you to make the shelter your first stop where you’ll find some incredible dogs waiting to be someone’s best friend. (Don’t forget: our Irie and Tiki both came from shelters and we could not be happier than we are with these two girls!!)

Every year, four million dogs find themselves in shelters and rescue organizations in the US. The PEDIGREE Adoption Drive helps shine a spotlight on the plight of these homeless dogs. (If you’re in the US, you no doubt know the Pedigree commercials that feature shelter dogs!)

This year the PEDIGREE Adoption Drive is also raising awareness for homeless dogs by donating a bowl of food to shelter dogs for everyone who becomes a “Fan” or “Likes” The PEDIGREE Adoption Drive on Facebook. So far over one million bowls have been donated–it’s a simple, fast, and free way you can contribute to a homeless dog’s dinner! [more details]

There will be a special Blog Hop featuring the posts for this drive this week (check the Blog Hop below starting Thursday). If you’re on Twitter, be sure to look for the #dogsrule hashtag to see other posts! If you have a blog, it only takes a moment to show that you, like Pedigree famously says, know that Dogs Rule!

Great Job! I adopted my two Australian Shepherds and our grey taby cat from the Animal Control Shelter and it feels good to give a home to abandoned pet who were left in the street.
