Dogs Predict Super Bowl Winners

OK, maybe it’s a little unconventional, but Veterinary Pet Insurance Co. (VPI) has come up with a way to predict the winner of the Super Bowl…using pet names. Yes, this pet insurance company is willing to predict the winner of the Big Game on February 6 based on the number of pets named in honor of the Super Bowl team or the actual players.

Think it’s a little weird? Well, consider this: the VPI name poll correctly predicted the Super Bowl champion for the past two years.

This year, VPI tallied up names, comparing the number of names in its database of 485,000 insured pets to see how many pets were named “Green Bay Packer” or “Packers” compared to “Steelers” or “Steeler”. They also compared “Rodgers” to “Roethlisberger”; “Jennings” or  “Jones” or “Driver” to “Brown” or “Randle” or “Sanders”; “Matthews” to “Hines Ward”; past stars “Lombardi” or “Farve”to “Bradshaw” or “Bettis” and more.

The verdict? If history is to repeat itself, the Green Bay Packers will take home the Super Bowl XLV trophy on February 6.
