As they prepare to unleash their new single “Rescue Me” on the UK airwaves, British punk pop party animals You Me At Six have come to the rescue of shelter pets through PETA’s adoption campaign.

Their compassion for all creatures great and small already apparent when members Max Helzer and Matt Barnes pledged to shun any circus which employs animal entertainment, the group banded together with Zack, the cuddly canine companion of a PETA member, to champion the “Underdog”– the 6 to 8 million pets who find themselves in shelters each year.

To find out about lead singer Josh Franceschi and drummer Dan Flint’s feelings about dog and cat adoption versus buying a buddy from a breeder or pet store, as well as their thoughts regarding the fur industry in their video interview (warning: includes disturbing images), and to enter for a chance to win an autographed copy of their album Hold Me Down:

Great that pop groups are also promoting getting dogs from rescue shelters, it should be everyone’s first call if they are serious about getting a dog.
