Although it’s customary for a person to receive presents to mark the anniversary of their birth, on the day she celebrated her own birthday Denise Richards gave the gift of a new life to one lucky dog.
Co-hosting on The View during the talk fest’s 3rd annual Mutt Show, the actress– who can currently be seen on the series Blue Mountain State– decided to take on the role of Momma to Chocolate Chip, a 2-year-old terrier mix relinquished by her human family due to financial
difficulties. The Rover had waited at a Georgia rescue for one year before she was taken in by the North Shore Animal League America.
One of five Fidos featured by North Shore Animal League America on the daytime show, Chocolate Chip may not have garnered the title Best Mutt in Show, but she did win the heart of the animal-loving luminary, who posted a Twitpic with her new pup shortly after taping the show, telling her fans: “The View was about dogs. Guess who’s going home with one! Been at a rescue for 1 yr… Time for a home!!”
Soon to have a new name thanks to Richards’ two daughters, the cuddly canine joins the star’s family of fur babies, which include dogs from rescues and foster Fidos.
