Proving that Big Apple bigwigs have a big heart when it comes their barking buddies, on February 16th NYC Life unleashes Doggie Moms, a six-part series that shines a spotlight on ladies who lunch and the lap dogs they love.

From high society soirees to Fido fundraisers, the camera has captured the luxurious lives of five NYC notables and their canine kids, including:

Karen Biehl: The proud pet parent of Eli the Chihuahua, who first found fame as the face of Milkbone dog biscuits. Adopted five years ago, today the tiny tail-wagger attends red carpet events and helps to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.

Grace: Two lovable Yorkies dubbed Portia and Rosie share Grace’s Grammercy Park residence. The photogenic Fidos have posed for OK Magazine and Yorkshire Terriers magazine, and their petite paws promenaded on the catwalk at the 2010 Rochester Fur Ball.

Leslie: SalliSue, a sweet Yorkshire Terrier, was her mother’s muse when creating the Barking Beauties Pageant, a doggie do which may bequeath a title to one lucky dog, but also gives a portion of the proceeds to local no-kill animal shelters. Soon to be a therapy dog, SalliSue’s nurturing nature will one day help residents of nursing homes and hospital patients.

Ashley: Preparing for pageants and volunteer efforts, Zoe and Misty are two pampered Pomeranians who were found by their forever Mom at adoption events.

Erika: Rescuing her rovers, high profile pet parent Erika dotes on her pups Cubby and Ginger with doggie duds, which the pair wear at black tie events and charity dog walks. A compassionate canine, Cubby is a certified therapy dog who volunteers in the New York City area.

A presentation with a purpose, NYC Media partnered with the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’S Animals to promote I Love NYC Pets Month, taking place throughout the month of February. Fans of the soon-to-be famous Fidos and their human parents can see the stars February 19th at the I Love NYC Pets Month Spay Day Event at Sara D. Roosevelt Park, where the five reality personalities will give advice and offer free copies of Tips for New Pet Owners Guide, and Primping for Pups at Mark Garrison Salon on February 23rd.

Doggie Moms, which will also highlight areas of responsible pet parenting, including shelter dog adoption, volunteering for a dog-related event and pet first aid, premieres February 16, 2011 at 9:30 pm ET on NYC Life.
