When the doors opened at six Los Angeles animal shelters on March 19th, staff members offered “Cead mile failte (a hundred thousand welcomes”) to potential pet parents as they arrived for the St. PAWtrick’s Day adoption event.
Knowing what a lucky girl she is to have a forever family, Phoebe Rose– a fashion-conscious canine who covers the L.A. scene on her blog, A Traveling Pug– attended the L.A. Animal Services event in a show of support for her barking brethren, and in the process got the chance to mingle with the celebrities on hand to make a difference in the lives of homeless dogs and cats.
Using their star wattage to shine a spotlight on shelter adoption at the East Valley Animal Shelter in Van Nuys were Jared Kusnitz, who will soon be seen on the big screen in the Disney flick Prom, The Young and The Restless‘ Kate Linder, Brandon Tyler Russell, who will soon be seen in the Rover-related flick Smitty, Josh Coxx, who stars in the upcoming action movie Thor, Cougar Town‘s Carolyn Hennessy and Access Hollywood correspondent Maria Menounos, whose presence helped more than 159 animals find someone to love on St. PAWtrick’s Day.
An active advocate for animals, Maria Menounos has acted as an ambassador for Purina’s Mighty Dog Nation, posed for a Last Chance for Animals poster and reported on the plight of puppy mills on the Today Show. As a Momma to four fur babies– two Bichon Frises, a White German Shepherd and a Poodle– Ms. Menounos instantly bonded with Phoebe Rose as she posed for a photo taken by the pretty Pug’s pet parent, Sheila Appleby Williams.
