Ask Android to Block Dog Fighting App

Dog fighting is not a game. It is not a sport. It is not a joke. It is a crime.

And crime does not belong in a game. However, that’s exactly what has happened in a new Android game called Dog Wars. Developed by Kage Games LLC, the game for Android phones (owned by Google) allows players to train and fight virtual dogs.

This issue was first brought to our attention by BSL News, a site that tackles the topic of breed-specific legislation which, we all know, primarily targets pit bulls and bully breeds. Rather than view the dogs as victims of crime, many communities with BSL laws have labeled these breeds as monsters to be confiscated and killed, even when they are in a loving home and have shown no sign of aggression. BSL is largely due to the images brought about by the crime of dog fighting, a stereotype perpetuated and promoted by the “Dog Wars” game. To encourage the removal of the “Dog Wars” game from the marketplace, readers can use the contact form at http://www.google.com/support/androidmarket/bin/request.py?contact_type=takedown to request removal of “Dog Wars” from the Android market.

Change.org has created a petition addressed to Google requesting removal of “Dog Wars” from the Android marketplace. Please visit the petition page and read more about this app then join us in signing and requesting removal of this violent game from the Android market.

To learn more about this game, please visit the BSL News post above and the Change.org petition page. We have not linked to the “Dog Wars” Android page so as not to provide promotion of this product.

I’ve heard from other people previously (on other posts) about that same problem. I’ve never been able to figure it out! I’ve checked and it seems to be some people blocked and not others! I’m sorry…it’s a mystery…
