Dream Dog Park Contest Launched

TV personality Jason Cameron, who creates domains for dudes each week on DIY Network’s Man Caves, will help to build a playscape for pooches as the head designer for the second Beneful® Dream Dog Park Contest.
“I’m thrilled to be part of a contest that lets dog owners dream about ways to spend even more quality time with their four-legged friends,” the DIY dog parent proclaimed. “I was amazed by the creative ideas dog owners dreamed up for last year’s contest and can’t wait to see what they come up with this year. Don’t hold back, because $500,000 can build one amazing dog park in your area.”
For the second year Beneful® will award $500,000 toward a dog park makeover in the community of one lucky winner. To enter, send in a 250-word (or less) essay by June 21, 2011 which answers the following question:
If you had $500,000 to spend to create the ultimate dream dog park, what would you do?
All entrants must also include a photo of themselves with their canine companion which visually expressed how life is better when they are together.
Finalists chosen to go on to round two of the competition will submit a video (up to two minutes in length) which illustrates their idea of transforming a dog park from reverie into reality.
From August 8 – September 8, 2011, the public can cast votes to help determine the best video.
Part of the Beneful® Dream Dog Park Team, Jason Cameron and pet expert/bestselling author Arden Moore (seen in the photo to the left)will also take part in the judging process, with the winner receiving a $10,000 cash prize and a one-year supply of Beneful® dog food for the entry which will serve as an inspiration for the half-million dollar dog park makeover. Nineteen runners-up will receive a year’s supply of Beneful® brand dog food.
Offering inspiration for dog park ideas, Beneful® brand dog food will unveil America’s first Dream Dog Park in Johns Creek, Ga., on June 15, 2011. The $500,000 renovation was inspired by last year’s Grand Prize Winner, Johns Creek resident Pat McNeely and his Siberian Husky, Koda.
“Once dog owners across the country get a look at the inaugural Dream Dog Park in Johns Creek, Ga., complete with a giant bone-shaped ramp with tunnels and water splash pads, they will be even more motivated to enter this year’s contest. One lucky winner’s idea will help serve as inspiration for a $500,000 renovation of a dog park in his/her area,” said Ken Wilhelm, Beneful Brand Director.
