Country music star Miranda Lambert, who climbed to the top of the Billboard charts with her single “The House That Built Me,” helped to build a better life for shelter pets at Cause for the Paws, an annual concert event hosted by the entertainer’s organization, Muttnation Foundation.
A former volunteer at The Humane Society of East Texas, where Lambert found her fur baby Delilah (one of the singer’s seven adopted dogs,) the animal sanctuary– which has become a no-kill shelter thanks in part to Miranda Lambert’s efforts– holds a special place in the Grammy winner’s heart, and will be among the shelters to benefit from funds raised at the event.
Cause for the Paws took place on April 30, 2011 in downtown Tyler, Texas and included performances from Josh Kelley (the husband of actress/animal advocate Katherine Heigl) and Stoney Larue. Although the total amount raised at Cause for the Paws has yet to be announced, the live auction which coincided with the musical festival amassed more than $50,000.
