Stars Support Angels in Fur Dog Rescue Fundraiser

A plethora of paparazzi magnets, including Desperate Housewives star James Denton, ER‘s Scott Grimes and reality personality Bob Guiney, dribbled for dogs on April 30th at the 1st annual Angels in Fur Dog Rescue “Play for the Pups” Celebrity Basketball Fundraiser, which was emceed by comedienne Debra Wilson.

Held at Burroughs High School in Burbank, California, the event also attracted stars who showed their support in the stands, including Hannah Montana cast member Romi Dames and the following famous faces, who met up with a four-legged fan on the red carpet– Phoebe Rose, a Pug with her paw on the pulse of the L.A. scene.

She may have placed 10th during the ninth season of American Idol, but Didi Benami is number one in the hearts of dog devotees thanks to her participation in the canine charity event. Developing a case of puppy love for Phoebe Rose on the red carpet, the entertainer posted a picture of the photogenic Fido on Twitter for her fans before Tweeting: “Thank you again AIF Dog Rescue. So happy to support. Deeply moved by this incredible cause. I hope more people become aware of what you do!”

Sir Elton John, Owen Wilson, George Lopez and dozens of Disney celebrities… Jennifer Smart has mingled with entertainment’s elite as the host of JENNiRADIO, and now the rising star can add Phoebe Rose of A Traveling Pug fame to the list of luminaries that she has met! Before the start of the celebrity basketball showdown, the cuddly canine smiled for the camera with the philanthropic young starlet, who has started the Jennifer Smart Foundation to raise funds for kids, animals and the environment.

Daniel Nguyen may be known as Super Fan Dan, Tori Spelling’s biggest fan on Tori and Dean Home Sweet Hollywood, but he also has a “dog”ged devotion for rescue Rovers!

David S. Lee, whose acting credits include Blood Diamond, Get Smart, Lost and Chuck, took on the role of supporter for a canine cause at the “Play for the Pups” event:

Star on the horizon Laci Kay, who has shared screen time with Christina Aguilera, Denise Richards, Jessica Biel and Jerry O’Connell, shared the spotlight with Phoebe Rose on the red carpet:

Phoebe Rose became fast friends with Rachelle Lynn, the founder of Angels in Fur Dog Rescue, and the “Playing for the Pups” co-producer, TV writer and voice actor Dave Shelton (Everybody Loves Raymond):
