Social media is a *great* way to get the word out on adoptable dogs and cats…but setting up a site and social media program can sometimes be a hurdle for overworked shelters and rescues.
We’ve got a unique giveaway this week for one US-based shelter or rescue that helps either both dogs and cats or dogs only. We’re going to be doing a mentor program with one US shelter or rescue to help them set up a free site on MyShelterSite.com. This program utilizes easy-to-use templates and is run by Nutrish to help shelters and rescues publicize their adoptable animals and find them some homes! (If you’re wondering, the MyShelterSite.com templates are NOT heavily branded with Nutrish.) Hosting is free.
We’ll select one winner and walk them through the whole process–helping you set up your site, be available to answer your questions along the way and provide advice, and help you with your social media efforts. (We have over 13,000 Twitter followers and can show you the best ways to tweet about your adoptable animals!) We’ll also be blogging about our efforts to help you set up MyShelterSite so your shelter or rescue will have additional publicity that way as well!
Email firstname.lastname@example.org the name of your shelter or rescue and a contact phone number and person who will be responsible for the shelter’s site. Any size shelter or rescue in the US is eligible as long as you serve both dogs and cats or dogs only. Please enter only if you are associated with the shelter or rescue and would like help setting up a free MyShelterSite site for your shelter!
Enter before 11:59pm May 31, 2011. We’ll announce the winner on June 1, 2011. By June 15, 2011, we’ll attend a virtual Go To Meeting with the winner to learn about MyShelterSite. (We’ll work around your schedule.) By July 1, 2011, we’ll have your MyShelterSite up and running and we’ll help you with other aspects of your social media as well so you can send out word of your adoptables! We’ll be available by phone or email through July 15 for the winner to help them build their social media presence!
We’re so excited to be working on this project with one lucky winner! Several bloggers will be helping shelters in this mentor program so you’ll be hearing even more about it in the coming weeks. With two rescue dogs and four rescue cats in our household, we know just how many people would be be interested in these great animals…but sometimes it’s just a matter of getting out the word!
