In honor of the first day of summer, we wanted to look back at the Purina Incredible Dog Challenge Eastern Regional held in San Diego earlier this month and share some photos from this premier canine sporting event. It featured dogs competing in a variety of events including dog surfing, dog diving, freestyle flying disc, head-to-head weave poles, Jack Russell hurdle racing and agility.
One of the dogs competing in the dog diving event actually broke the world record for distance, with an incredible dive of 31 feet 5 inches! Lise Ann Strum of San Diego and her dog Vhoebe (above), a three-year-old-Belgian Malinois, broke the world record in the diving dog competition with a distance of 31 feet 5 inches !
Here are some more great shots from this annual event:

Major, a five-year-old Parson Russell Terrier, competed in the 30-weave up-and-back event.

Prino, a four-year-old Papillon, competed in the small dog agility event.

The fun continued on the water as well. Nani, a Bernese Mountain Dog, bailed off her board during the Purina Incredible Dog Challenge’s surfing competition.

Owner Jeremy Duenas of Yorba Linda, looked on as Deagen, a 5-year-old French Bulldog, competed in the surfing competition.
