Pet Pro Profile: Pam Hoerauf of Pet Blogs United

Nowhere in the blogosphere will you find more devoted bloggers than in the pet world. It’s a logical condition when you consider that pet parents are ever eager to share information about their pets (and readers are just as eager to hear and comment about them!) The pet community, it seems, has found the perfect vehicle for expressing their joys, sorrows, humor, and frustrations. Recognizing this trend, Pam Hoerauf, through her Pet Blogs United website, is working to encourage pet bloggers everywhere to become part of this caring, sharing community. For our latest Pet Pro Profile, we interview Pam about her Pet Blogs United blog.

Please describe your blog.

Pet Blogs United is a place for all pet bloggers to come together, to find each other, to be recognized and to be featured. We hope to support fellow bloggers by visiting and leaving comments. So many new bloggers are thrilled when people find them and they start to get comments. We try to help make that happen.

Where are you based?

Michigan.

Can you tell us about your background and how you came to write about pets?

I’m a married mother of two teenage boys, two lazy cats and one sassy schnauzer, Oskar. I fell in love with Oskar almost 6 years ago and life hasn’t been the same for me since. Illness has prevented me from working and he has been my constant companion since I’ve been home.

I’ve had a personal blog, Screaming Mimi since 2007. After finding out about pet bloggers I started Oskar’s blog, The Daily Schnauzer in 2009. Once I found out how awesome the pet blogging community is, I started Pet Blogs United in September 2010, as a place for pet bloggers to get some exposure and build new friendships.

Can you tell us about your pets?

The cats, Chloe (12) and Moe, short for Maureen, (approx. 14), are the queens of the house. They have no interest or use for Oskar and often whap him on the nose just for walking by.

Oskar is an all-black miniature schnauzer who will be six this month. He considers himself to be excessively handsome and in charge of the household.

What else would you like the readers of DogTipper.com to know about your work?

We would just love all pet bloggers to check out Pet Blogs United and see if we can’t feature your blog.

What’s next for your business?

Well, for me personally I’m looking forward to attending BlogHer and BlogPaws in August, 2011. I hope to learn how to grow Pet Blogs United into a real online presence in the pet blogging world.
