Win a $1,000 Donation from Pedigree for Your Favorite Rescue or Shelter!

We are SO excited about our latest giveaway! This past February, as you know, we went to Nashville to the Pedigree headquarters to learn more about their new dry food formula. In celebration of the new formula, Pedigree is going to donate $1,000 to the shelter or rescue selected by DogTipper readers!

HOW TO NOMINATE

From June 1-7, we’ll be taking nominations for the shelter or rescue to win the donation.

Leave your nomination below in one of the two comments fields. It must be a shelter or rescue in the US (you can be based anywhere but the shelter or rescue has to be in the US). Also, it must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

VOTING

After the nominations come in this week, on June 8 we’ll post a voting ballot and everyone can vote…and the shelter or rescue with the most votes will win the $1,000 donation from Pedigree!

AND, since the end of June is also the end of the second quarter of the year, we’ll be donating 20 percent of the proceeds from the sale of Barkonomics to the winner as well. (If you’ve already nominated a nonprofit for the Barkonomics donation, it will automatically be on the ballot.)

So what’s next? Nominate your favorite shelter or nonprofit below then come back on June 8, 2011 to start voting! Be sure to leave the name and location of the shelter or rescue (and the website, if you have it handy.)

You can also help feed homeless pets by tweeting and posting on Facebook; read more about how you can help donate 100,000 pounds of food here.

We’ll post the ballot on June 8 and announce the winner on July 1, 2011!

    Animal Placement Bureau

    Lansing MI, 48908-0146
    Phone: (517) 346-4505
    Email: info@apbpets.com

The Animal Placement Bureau is a volunteer foster care network with no paid staff and no sheltering facility. All of the dogs in our care live with our volunteers and become as much a part of their family as their own dogs.

APB is recognized federally as a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization whose primary goal is to place homeless dogs into loving, lifelong homes.

APB is funded solely by private donations and fundraisers and does not receive any state, local, or federal funding. Our major expenses are the result of the extensive medical care we provide for each dog in our care including wormings, vaccinations, and spay/neuter surgeries.

APB IS A NO-KILL ANIMAL WELFARE AGENCY. There is no time limit on our foster care system. When asked, “What happens if your dogs don’t get adopted?” we are proud to be able to say, “They come back home with us until we find just the right home for them — NO MATTER HOW LONG IT TAKES.”

It is a no-kill shelter (the only exception is if the animal is suffering or their quality of life is so bad that they cannot be helped). They recently were required to change locations due to owner of the previous location wanting them gone. They rely on donations because they are a non-profit organization. They were close to maximum capacity with animals and about 2 weeks ago took in over 100 animals from an animal hoarding case.

Coco and I nominate Have A Heart, Inc. A South Florida Canine Rescue. Have A Heart is a no-kill, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that is run by volunteers. We have taken in 16 heartworm positive dogs and have been able to treat/cure all but one whose treatment is scheduled to begin in 2 weeks. A $1,000 donation would go directly toward paying off our vet bills. Crossing our fingers and paws. http://www.AdoptTheDog.com

I would like to nominate Canine Lifeline from Garfield Heights, Ohio for the $1,000 Donation from Pedigree. Their website is http://www.caninelifeline.org. They are an all volunteer 501c3 dog rescue group. They rescue dogs from county pounds that are in danger of euthanasia for space reasons, and also take on dogs with treatable medical conditions. They’ve currently taken on a dog with a very large tumor on it’s leg that will need surgery to correct. The donation would enable them to get him this much needed surgery. Thanks!

The Humane Society of Tampa Bay. We adopted 2 dogs from them and my daighter has volunteered in their spay/neuter clinic. They’re a great asset to our community.

I actually messed up with previous entry…and I apologize for that. I don’t want to take away from the rescue I entered, but what I meant to do was: Love-a-bull, inc in Austin, Texas. Thank you for allowing me to correct what my original intentions were. And please, allow the previous entry to stand as well. Thank you so much.

Let’s save the lives of animals for baby Connor… CCS takes on many kittens that need bottle feeding and many senior dogs that would otherwise be put down.
