After a decade of devotion, Harry Potter fans will soon gather for the last time to watch the final chapters of J.K. Rowling’s tale of The Boy Who Lived unfold on the silver screen.  Before the lights dim inside movie theaters we thought we might shine a spotlight on actors in the film franchise who have not only given of themselves in front of the camera for the sake of their craft, but also behind the scenes for the sake of pets in peril. Following is the first in our week-long series:

As Barty Crouch, Jr. in Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire he may have joined forces with villainous Voldemort in an attempt to defeat The Boy Who Lived, but in real life actor David Tennant harnessed his own special brand of magic for the forces of good in 2010 as he spoke for those who have no voice in a PSA for the Scottish SPCA.

Founded in 1839 to improve the lives of working horses, from its humble beginnings the organization has grown to include 12 animal rescue centers throughout the country which offer comfort and hope to more than 12,000 animals each year.
