In the 1970′s Linda Blair gave movie audiences nightmares as a girl possessed by a sinister supernatural spirit in The Exorcist, but today the horror flick icon makes life a dream come true for the rescued Rovers who find a temporary home at Linda Blair World Heart Foundation.
Founded by the pop culture legend in 2003, the Linda Blair World Heart Foundation– which provides a safe haven for homeless dogs as it helps to educate the public about the plight of pet overpopulation, animal abuse and the need to protect bully breeds who face an uncertain future due to discrimination– will be recognized for its ongoing efforts at Chiquita’s Friends PAL Awards ceremony, a festive fiesta and fundraising gala.
Held at Rancho Chiquita in Malibu, California on July 30, 2011, Chiquita’s Friends– a non-profit which raises funds for organizations that work to cease the cycle of animal cruelty– will shine a spotlight on honorees Linda Blair, Robert Cabral (the executive director of Bound Angels), K9 Connection and Dr. Lisa Newell in an evening filled with music by south of the border songstress Luna Itzel and a roving Mariachi band, Mexican cuisine, tequila and wine tastings and a live and silent auction, the proceeds of which will benefit the organizations honored at the event.
Tickets for Chiquita’s Friends PAL Awards ceremony are on sale now.
