Rin Tin Tin may not have the power to bolster a flagging economy, but the famous Fido did have the ability to boost spirits as he rang the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange on September 7, 2011.
A twelfth generation descendant of the world’s most recognizable Rover, Rin Tin Tin proudly carries on his ancestors’ heritage of heroism. A member of an elite search dog recovery unit in Arkansas, the German Shepherd also hold the distinction of being the American Humane Association’s first spokesdog, and is using his role to shine a spotlight on the organization’s “10th Anniversary Tribute to the Hero Dogs of 9/11.”
Taking place at the National Arts Club in New York City on September 8, 2011, Whoopi Goldberg, celebrity dog trainer Victoria Stillwell of It’s Me or the Dog fame and 200 supporters of The American Humane Association who worked in tandem with the courageous canines in the aftermath of the tragedy will honor the 300 search-and-rescue dogs, service dogs and therapy dogs who have provided care and comfort for those directly touched by the horror of the terrorist attacks.
Rin Tin Tin is also the national ambassador for the American Humane Association’s Hero Dogs Awards, which premieres on The Hallmark Channel on November 11, 2911.
