Torchwood Star John Barrowman Helps Dogs Trust Charity Shop

As Captain Jack Harkness he’s saved the world on countless occasions, and on September 17, 2011 Torchwood star John Barrowman helped Dogs Trust’s efforts to save dogs in need by raising funds at the grand opening of the dog welfare organization’s charity shop in Cowbridge, Wales.

Happily posing with many of the more than 200 attendees and their tail-wagging chums, Barrowman brought along one of his own canine companions– a Jack Russell terrier aptly named Captain Jack, who watched as shoppers who browsed for bargains brought in £1,300 for Dogs Trust by the end of the afternoon.

During his stay, Barrowman stated: “It was an honour to open Dogs Trust’s first charity shop in Wales. As their patron I’ve seen first hand the wonderful work they do to rescue homeless dogs. My Jack Russell Terrier, Captain Jack, and Harris and Charlie, my gorgeous Cocker Spaniels are three of my best friends and mean the world to me. Charlie is from Dogs Trust and the day I brought him home I made a commitment to take care of him, and he’s given me his unconditional love in return. If you love dogs then please pop in to the shop and show your support!”

Dogs Trust’s latest charity shop is located at 62 Eastgate in Cowbridge, South Glamorgan, Wales.
