This week on DOG TALK®, the weekly radio show by author and dog expert Tracie Hotchner, Tracie takes a look at a topic of interest to every dog lover who has worried about ensuring the care of their dog in the event of their own death.
- Adrienne D. Davis (the Vice Provost and the William M. Van Cleve Professor of Law at Washington University in St. Louis Missouri) discusses pet inheritance laws and how to protect your pets better than Leona Helmsley and Alexander McQueen, whose bequests were not legally air tight. (She also discusses laws about animal welfare which extend to legal protection for guinea pigs in Switzerland!)
- Laura Pople is the head of SEER Farms Sanctuary, the much-needed sanctuary for pets that people need to place in a safe haven while they recover from medical problems, financial woes, deployment in the military or escape from a domestic abuse situation. She especially thanks the generous folks at Dr. Elsey’s cat litter company who sent a second shipment of ONE TON of CAT ATTRACT litter to the sanctuary! SEER Farms has even taken in some colonies of feral cats (that had been looked after by people whose homes were lost in foreclosure) and Laura says the proof of how excellent Cat Attract litter is that those wild cats have never seen a litter box in their lives but go right into the box with Cat Attract in it!
DOG TALK® airs Saturdays on NPR (or anytime via podcast). It is broadcast live on Saturdays at 11 AM in Southampton NY and LIVE at 1 PM Sundays on Robinhood radio in the Berkshires. This is one of two radio shows by pet author and canine nutrition expert Tracie Hotchner, who also hosts CAT CHAT® every Wednesday on Martha Stewart Living Radio on Sirius/XM Satellite.
