A top dog among star Spots, Tinseltown tail-wagger Uggie lapped up the limelight at Beverly Hills’ Samuel Goldwyn theater during the recent premiere of the much-anticipated romantic dramedy, The Artist.

A Rover with an acting resume which includes appearances alongside Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon in Water for Elephants, the ‘pup’arazzi magnet’s real life story could be turned into a Tinseltown ‘tail.’ Frustrated by the Fido’s feisty demeanor when he was young, Uggie’s original pet parents had planned to take the pup to the pound before trainer Omar von Muller stepped into the role of his doggie Dad– and the rest is Hollywood history, the Hollywood Reporter revealed.

Having already won the prized Palme Dog award at the Cannes Film Festival for his portrayal of a barking buddy to a silent film actor (played by French film star Jean Dujardin) who relies on the devotion of his four-pawed pal when the arrival of talkies takes away his claim to fame– the nine-year-old Jack Russell Terrier will stroll across the silver screen and straight into the hearts of movie buffs when The Artist is unleashed in a limited release in the United States on November 23, 2011.
