We all get behind now and then and sometimes we miss our favorite shows. Lately we’ve been behind due to a computer crash which is *nearly* resolved now thanks to a new computer. Now we’re just awaiting delivery of some cables to connect the old with the new and move everything over.

In that down time, we’ve missed not only Tracie Hotchner’s excellent radio show, DOG TALK, but missed posting about two weeks of episodes. But no worry…Tracie’s show is available 24/7 on podcast!DOG TALK® airs Saturdays on NPR (or anytime via podcast). It is broadcast live on Saturdays at 11 AM in Southampton NY and LIVE at 1 PM Sundays on Robinhood radio in the Berkshires. This is one of two radio shows by pet author and canine nutrition expert Tracie Hotchner, who also hosts CAT CHAT® every Wednesday on Martha Stewart Living Radio on Sirius/XM Satellite.

So let’s catch up with Tracie’s show this month!

Nov. 18, 2011 Guests

  • Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson is the admittedly “dog-besotted” author of a luscious new book, Dogs Make Us Human, with his text inspired by the dazzling photos of people and their dogs taken by wildlife photographer Art Wolfe during his travels around the globe. Jeffrey calls into DOG TALK® from his home in New Zealand (where summer is just about to begin!) to discuss how he went from being a Freudian analyst to a the author of the hugely best-selling book Dogs Don’t Lie About Love (one of Tracie’s old favorites) and discusses how a dog’s love is better and truer than anything a mere human can manage. This captivating book really has to be on everyone’s holiday wish list.
  • Nancy Kerns, the editor of the indispensable Whole Dog Journal discusses some of the important recent articles in the magazine about Addison’s disease (and how to know if your dog has it), Cushings Disease (ditto) and the newest rating of canned dog foods and how the list is compiled.

Nov. 11, 2011 Guests

  • Do you remember the sad story of Gil, whose five-year-old guide dog Evie (the Furry Ferrari) was found to have cancer and died suddenly this year during chemotherapy? Well now there is terrific happy news! Gil talks about his new guide dog partner Satch, a big beautiful yellow Lab. Gil describes their partnership, from frolics in their local river to squeezing into a small commuter plane for Satch’s first-ever plane ride.
  • Roselle is the heroine of Michael Hingson’s riveting new book ,Thunder Dog, that chronicles the author escaping on 9/11 from the 78th floor of the World Trade Center Tower One with his brave and steady guide dog (recently awarded Hero of the Year by the American Humane Association). Mike Hingson also discusses the importance for all of us to really get to know our pet dogs better and to form a deeper relationship with them. Artist Ron Burns created a tribute portrait of Roselle (a great gift for Labrador lovers!) with 40% of the sales supporting Roselle’s Wish.
