Watching the National Dog Show is a Thanksgiving tradition at our house–and we’re definitely not alone. On average, 20 million viewers watch this dog show on NBC broadcast immediately following the “Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade™”.
This year, the National Dog Show will feature six new breeds sanctioned by the American Kennel Club (AKC). This show will be the breeds’ national television debut. NBC will include the new breeds in the telecast, which now includes over 160 total breeds.
Here’s a look at the six new breeds for this year. (Of course, we have to root just a little bit more for the Coonhound since Irie is part Coonhound. We always tell people that the fun of having mixed breed dogs: we have a whole team of breeds to cheer on during dog shows!)
Keep an eye out for these new breeds during this year’s show:
- Entlebucher Mountain Dog

- Norwegian Lundehund

- Xoloitzcuintli
American English Coonhound

- Cesky Terrier

- Finnish Lapphund
