“No one is free when others are oppressed.” No one knows where this famous quotation originated, but the words express the emotions of the former felons who work at Villalobos Rescue Center. As they start their walk on the straight and narrow, a new batch of parolees– along with some familiar faces from past seasons– attempt to free pit bulls from people’s prejudice and lead the dogs toward a better life in the third season of the Animal Planet series Pit Bulls & Parolees.

Twelve new episodes will once again shine a spotlight on the world’s largest pit bull rescue facility as its founder Tia Maria Torres and her team tackle dog discrimination. In this season viewers will go on a virtual trips to Alabama with with Tia and her daughter Tania as they offer support to a rescue organization dealing with the aftermath of a tornado, and a cross-country journey with Jake and Armando as they help two feral Pit Bulls.

A new lease on life is also the theme in subsequent episodes as a senior Spot who no doubt knew that the slam of a shelter door meant the end of the road for him gets to enjoy his last days free from fear thanks to Tia Maria Torres, and a habitually aggressive dog is freed from her bad behavior the moment she is reunited with her pet parent in another touching episode.

“Running Villalobos means helping man and man’s best friend and it is a lifestyle that keeps us breathing. We simply can’t imagine life any other way. In our ‘family’ we always say that we would take a bullet for our dogs or our people – that’s how much they all mean to us,” says Torres. “At one time or another, everyone has asked for a second chance. All of us make mistakes or run into misfortune at some point in our lives. At Villalobos, we’re here to extend a helping hand, and in some cases, a paw.”

The new season of Pit Bulls & Parolees premieres November 12, 2011 at 10 P.M. ET on Animal Planet.
