Providing a taste of the good life to orphaned animals, celebrity chef Rachael Ray has partnered with PEOPLEPets.com to launch the Click the Cutest: Rachael Ray’s Shelter Helpers program promotion.
A holiday happening with heart, starting December 16, 2011 pet parents are invited to raise awareness of the adoption option by uploading a photo of their adopted fur baby and viewing photos of other parents’ picture perfect rescue pups and purrers.
From December 19th through the 23rd, PEOPLEPets.com will select 10 pet photos each day, with the animal-loving public casting their votes for the cutest canine or cat. At the competition’s end, the families of the top three vote-gathering pets will have the opportunity to choose an animal charity to receive donations from Rachael Ray, who will present $15,000 to the charity chosen by the first place winner, $7,500 to the organization picked by the second place recipient, and $2,500 to the shelter or rescue selected by the third place winner. Among the list of organizations included on the vetted list of possible prize recipients are America’s VetDogs, ASPCA, Bad Rap, Mighty Mutts, National Disaster Search Dog Foundation, North Shore Animal League, Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals and Jason Heigl Foundation.
The contest’s $25,000 prize donation is a portion of the proceeds generated annually by sales of the TV personality’s pet food Nutrish, which has contributed close to $2.5 million in cash to organizations ranging from the ASPCA and the North Shore Animal League to Mighty Mutts and Bad Rap since the pet food’s launch in 2008.
“Everyone knows I love animals, especially my dog Isaboo. Unfortunately there are a lot of animals out there that don’t have someone to love and care for them,” said Rachael. “The great thing about this ‘Shelter Helpers’ promotion is that it celebrates those that choose to rescue an animal and in turn helps a deserving animal organization continue to care for animals in need.”
