Fido-loving families who flock around the television set on January 2, 2012 to watch the annual phalanx of floats file past in the 123rd Rose Bowl parade will see surfing Spots and NASCAR star Greg Biffle steer attention to Dick Van Patten’s Natural Balance Pet Food‘s history-making entry.
A co-founder of The Greg Biffle Foundation, which supports spay/neuter initiatives and puppy transports as well as offers grants to no-kill shelters and humane groups across the country, the dog-devoted speed demon will wave to the crowd as some cowabunga canines ride waves generated by the world’s first rolling white water surfing machine on a 116-foot-long, 50 plus ton float which promises to earn a place in the Guinness Book of World Records as the “World’s Heaviest and Longest Float.”
Among the group of hot doggers who will help the float make history will be a Rover who can boast of his own record-breaking title. Tillman, the world’s fastest skateboarding dog, will trade in his skateboard for a surfboard, joining internet sensation Norman the Scooter dog for a ‘paws’itively inspiring performance.
“I can’t wait to see the float,” said Biffle. “I’ve heard a lot about this year’s float and I’ve seen video of the floats from the last couple of years. Tillman came to our shop at Roush Fenway Racing last month and we got to see him skateboard. I heard he’ll be surfing on the float this year so I can’t wait to see that. It was definitely an honor to be asked to ride on the Natural Balance float because we share the same passion for the well-being of animals.”
Tillman and his totally tubular tail-wagging buddies hope that animal lovers will help to feed orphan Fidos through “The 12 Days of Tillman” campaign. For every new Facebook like, Natural Balance will donate $1 to the Petco Foundation “Tree Of Hope” fundraiser to help feed shelter pets!
The 123rd Rose Bowl parade will be broadcast on ABC, The Hallmark Channel, HGTV, KTLA, NBC, RFD-TV and Univision.
