Song Raises Funds for ‘Pit Bulls & Parolees’ Rescue

Laying down beats in praise of ‘bully’ breeds, rapper Down a.k.a. Kilo has unleashed a tune to raise funds for a rescue that has gained fame on the Animal Planet series Pit Bulls & Parolees.

A percentage from iTunes downloads of Down’s song “How We Roll” will go to Villalobos Rescue Center, which– after 18 years of operation in Los Angeles County– recently rolled out of California for new forever homes in New Mexico and Louisiana.

Although founder Tia Maria Torres’s dream to relocate her rescue to Tehachapi,California was denied, the wheels of change have guided her organization in a new direction by dividing the organization into two facilities which may be separated by miles, but united in its mission to care for canines in need.

Thanks to the donation of a 50-acre ranch, the dogs which have been deemed unadoptable will find the tranquility they so deserve at The Sanctuary (also known as the “Pit Bull Ponderosa”), while Spots searching for forever homes will be helped at Villalobo’s new site in New Orleans’ 9th ward, where Tia and her team will educate the public about the proper care of– and true, loving nature of– Pit Bulls.

Currently settling into the new locations, a grand opening of the Villalobos Rescue Center facilities is tentatively scheduled for March 2012. Until then, people who are passionate about Pitties can write to for a list of items needed for the facilities.
