Actress Drew Barrymore, whose character helps three trapped gray whales in the Arctic Circle return to the wide expanse of their ocean home in the soon to be released movie Big Miracle, recently created a small miracle for an orphaned puppy by offering him a forever home.

Along with his siblings, a tiny Shepherd mix was found in a box abandoned outside of the East Valley Shelter in Los Angeles. Thanks to Bark n’ Bitches, an all rescue pet shop in Hollywood which has found foster and lifelong pet parents for homeless dogs and cats since 2006, the pup was soon placed with a famous foster who gave him his first glimpse of life in the limelight– Twilight star Nikki Reed, who kept fans informed about the daily antics of the fur babies during their stay, PeoplePets.com reports.

Seeing the eight-week-old’s face on PetFinder.com Barrymore and fiance Will Kopelman fell instantly in puppy love with the lucky dog, who has been named Oliver.

Like any proud pet parent, the actress enjoyed sharing photos of her fur family with the studio audience at The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Watch the video above to see snapshots of Oliver and his new brother, Douglas– who was rescued by the star in 2010, and find out more about the work of Bark ‘n Bitches in the video below:
