Celebrities Attend The Genesis Awards

Using their combined star wattage to illuminate the media’s take on animal welfare issues, a line-up of luminaries gathered for the 26th annual Genesis Awards.

Cinema’s top Spot, Uggie, became fast friends with a number of famous faces who filed into the Beverly Hilton Hotel on March 24, 2012, including The Vampire Diaries‘ Ian Somerhalder, who received the evening’s Wyler Award for his mission to bring media awareness to such distressing subjects as puppy mills, the Canadian seal hunt and shark-finning. The presentation’s high-profile host was Dancing with the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba, who recently adopted a barking buddy from Best Friends Animal Society and will help orphaned felines find forever homes through her new online Petsami series Crib Cat. (And before the Genesis awards, a special celebrity gifting suite was held; one of the gifts for these animal-loving celebrities was The Tiniest Tiger’s Hipster Bag, featured at our #RedCarpetCat event last month!)

During the awards show, which is presented annually by The Humane Society of the United States, such stars as Kesha, Kaley Cuoco, Moby, Cloris Leachman, Pauley Perrette, Michael Vartan, Rose McGowan and Wendie Malick applauded for a performance from multi-Grammy winner Colbie Caillat (a platinum-selling recording artist with a heart of gold who helped to highlight the horrors of puppy mills in a Humane Society video) and for the recipients of the evening’s top honors, including:
