In our continuing “Flashback Friday” segment, we take a look at a star of both the big and small screen as she promotes pets who are hoping to land starring roles in the lives of people who will love them.

Film fans may know her for her portrayal of Sharon Carter in the blockbuster Captain America, and TV viewers tune in each week to see her as Grace Van Pelt on the CBS hit series The Mentalist, but when she’s not on screen actress Amanda Righetti steps into the real life role of animal advocate.

A star who has helped to shine a spotlight on animal welfare issues at the Genesis Awards and the noble work of service dogs at Guide Dogs of America, Amanda Righetti– along with her husband, director Jordan Alan (who provides the camerawork for the video) and their canine companion Akira (a rescue Rover who was welcomed into their family in late 2008)– took the time to promote the option of shelter adoption during a 2011 visit to West Valley Animal Shelter in Chatsworth, California.
