Joey Lawrence Shines a Spotlight on Homeless Dog

A pop culture icon with a compassionate heart, former Blossom star Joey Lawrence has helped to shine a spotlight on a dog who hopes to land a starring role in the life of a devoted pet parent.

A proud Poppa to a 12-year-old Heeler/black Lab named Tiffany, who he adopted from an Australian shelter in 2001, during his visit to Access Hollywood the star of the ABC Family series Melissa & Joey became fast friends with Jackson Shade, a two-year-old German Shepherd mix who is currently one of the resident Rovers at Best Friends Animal Society in Los Angeles.

While Access Hollywood is known for focusing its features on famous figures, on the last Friday of each month the entertainment news program literally goes to the dogs (or cats, as the case may be) during a pet adoption segment showcased by the stars. Joey Lawrence is the latest in a long line of animal-loving luminaries who have promoted the option of adoption on the syndicated show. Since the segment premiered, Dancing with the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba, former Charmed cast member Rose McGowan and True Blood‘s Kristin Bauer are just a few of the celebrities who have helped each adorable adoptable who has appeared on the Access Hollywood set find a forever home.
