Kevin Nealon, who satirized news stories on Saturday Night Live‘s Weekend Update, is helping to keep animal lovers up to date with a movement to make Los Angeles a no-kill city thanks to a comical take on tear-inducing PSAs. In the YouTube clip the Weeds star reminds everyone that the solutions to concocted complications may be out of our control, the answer to the real life problem of pet overpopulation is as simple as spaying or neutering your pet and choosing the option of shelter adoption.
A Best Friends Animal Society initiative, No-Kill Los Angeles was launched in April 2012 with the goal to end the city’s euthanization of 17,000 healthy and treatable shelter dogs and cats each year.
Currently 44 organizations strong and counting, through the combined efforts of city shelters, rescue sites and people with a passion for helping pets NKLA is reaching its goal by providing spay/neuter services in areas facing financial struggles and increasing adoptions.
