I am so, so excited to announce that DogTipper is a new Maytag Ambassador, part of the #MaytagMoms campaign! We’re going to be “test driving” the Maytag Bravos XL high-efficiency top-load washer and dryer and writing about our experiences with these products over the coming months.
I can’t wait….our old washer and dryer have seen much, much better days. The washer is at least 10 years old and the dryer…well, it predates our memory. Besides the fact that they’re old (and the fact that the dryer sounds like it’s growling), these machines are out of date in terms of the current technology. New technology means these are high efficiency washers and use less water per load.
As we’ve written about before, we live in the country so our water comes from our own well. That’s nice in many ways (like no chlorine in our water) but not so nice in other ways…as in wondering about whether the well will run dry.
Last summer, Texas went through a historic drought. We literally held our breath every time we turned on the faucet, hoping water would come out. If you’ve never relied on well water, let me assure you that it’s not fun. During drought, you have to watch every bit of water you use and cut back wherever possible. Of course, laundry is a big use of water in our home.
The Maytag Bravos XL high-efficiency top-load washer uses less water than traditional washing machines, though. I’ve never used a high-efficiency machine so I can’t wait to test it for myself. In fact, I was so excited about the news of the new washer and dryer yesterday that we immediately went to go look at them in person!
Over the next four months, I’ll be bringing you reports about how the new washer and dryer are performing in our home, doing not only our laundry but our pets’ laundry as well. We always recommend frequent washing of pet bedding during the summer months to help reduce fleas in your home so we’ll be giving you a full report. Watch for videos, photos, posts and more to come, starting with the installation of the machines late this month.
