Rewarding shelters for the fruits of their labor, celebrity chef Rachael Ray, in partnership with the ASPCA, has created the perfect recipe for successfully finding forever homes for orphan dogs and cats through the ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge.
In the past two years 101,263 shelter pets have been saved thanks to the compassionate competition, and starting August 1st 50 animal shelters throughout the US will be working for the next three months to adopt out at least 300 more companion animals than they did during the same time period in 2011.
A $100,000 grand prize will be awarded to the winning shelter, and the shelter in second place will receive a $25,000 grant. The shelter that convinces their community to get behind the paws cause will also win $25,000, while organizations which come out on top in their divisions will be eligible to win grants ranging from $5,000 to $40,000.
