Answering the call to help causes, famous faces could be found on the phones on September 11th, closing deals on the trading floor at the 8th annual BGC Partners Charity Day in memory of those whose lives were lost at the World Trade Center on 9/11 eleven years ago.

Among the charities which were invited to participate at BGC Partners in London’s financial center Canary Wharf was Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, which had some stellar talent conducting transactions with BGC clients to raise funds for the orphan Fidos and felines in the rescue’s care.

Comic star Paul O’Grady, who is currently shining a spotlight on Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in the seven-part ITV1 documentary Paul O’ Grady: For the Love of Dogs, received help from a charming Chihuahua named Betty, who was once a resident at the renowned rescue.

Canine cuteness was also beneficial for Neil Fox, a DJ at Magic FM, who brought to the charity event his new barking buddy Bonzo, a star in his own right after winning the hearts of viewers who watched the Shih Tzu/Jack Russell Terrier find his forever home with the radio personality’s family on the premiere episode of Paul O’Grady: For the Love of Dogs.

Britain’s Got Talent winners Ashleigh and Pudsey, who have wowed crowds on both sides of the pond with their Mission Impossible-themed routine, performed well on the floor for the paws cause, as did Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood (see photo below).

Claire Horton, Battersea’s Chief Executive, stated: “We’re extremely honoured to be part of BGC Partners’ Charity Day 2012 and take part in a worldwide fundraising event that will help scores of UK charities. It costs Battersea £13 million every year to look after the thousands of abandoned and unwanted dogs and cats that come into our care, and we’re so grateful for the support of our good friends Paul O’ Grady, Craig Revel Horwood, Ashleigh and Pudsey, and Neil Fox in helping us raise vital funds that will enable us to continue this work.”
