Movie buffs were moved to tears by her performance in the 70s romantic classic Love Story, but today actress Ali MacGraw touches hearts through her animal activism. Over the years the star has helped to shine a spotlight on pets in peril in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, raised funds for the Santa Fe Animal Shelter and shared her anti-fur stance, and on November 14th the star will help homeless pets picture a better life as she steps into the role of special guest at the Humane Society of New York’s fourth annual benefit photography auction.
Pet parents George Stephanopoulos of ABC News and comedienne Alexandra Wentworth (who adopted their dachshund Daisy from the renowned New York organization) are honorary chairs for the gala, while socialite/animal advocate Cornelia Guest–the event’s Chairperson– will provide guests with delightful delicacies which can be recreated at home thanks to her recently published book, Simple Pleasures.
All of the funds raised from the event will benefit The Humane Society of New York’s Veterinary Clinic and the Vladimir Horowitz and Wanda Toscanini Horowitz Adoption Center, the New York Social Diary reports.
When: November 14, 2012
Where: 515 West 26th Street in New York City
