When Animal Planet unleashes the new season of Pit Bulls and Parolees on October 6th, Villalobos Rescue Center’s move from its California home of the past two decades to New Orleans’ ninth ward will offer moving moments for the program’s viewers.
Transporting 200 canines to The Big Easy– a city with one of the largest Pit Bull populations in the country– Tia Maria Torres and her daughters help and a new team of doggedly devoted parolees rebuild their lives as they construct a haven for dogs in need of a second chance.
Just as the city of New Orleans is a story of tears and triumph, the fourth season of the series will shine a spotlight on the rescue center’s daily struggles and successes. The episodes will range from from the sad case of a dog abandoned and near death to the joy of a Pit Bull who finds forever parents with a family of eight who are looking for a new canine companion after the loss of their pet to cancer, and the rescue of 20 cuddly rescue pups and their two mothers will be an “awww’-inspiring sight for fans.
“Hope, faith, recovery, resilience – that’s New Orleans – and it reminds me of myself and also of a pit bull. No matter the circumstances, we strive to move forward,” says Torres. “I’m grateful to this beautiful city for giving us a second chance; hopefully we’ve found a place where my family can feel at home and do the work we live for.”
Season four of Pit Bulls and Parolees begins October 6th at 10 p.m. ET on Animal Planet.
